“No public inquiry” in Molloy case

It’s reported this morning that there will be no public inquiry into the death of Castlecoote priest Fr Niall Molloy.

The 52 year old priest was found dead at the mansion of his friends Richard and Theresa Flynn in Clara, Co Offaly in 1985.

Reports in this morning’s Irish Daily Mail say that despite earlier calls by the Garda cold case investigation team for such a public inquiry to be held to compel witnesses at the party on the night in question to cooperate – it’s understood that the recommendation has been changed.

Speaking to Shannonside news nephew of the late Fr Molloy Bill Maher says the family have not been officially informed of this but they’re disgusted if it is true.
