Harbisons hand written report- Preliminary Post Mortem

  • A hand written Preliminary Post Mortem Report by Dr John Harbison, State Pathologist. This was recorded within 24 hours of Niall’s body being examined by him. His opinion is quite clear that he believed Niall’s death was as a result of a head injury. A mild heart condition he recorded was insufficient to cause death.

Evidence from Neuropathologist

Dr Michael Farrell provided a report to Gardaí in recent years which outlines that Niall Molloy lived for between three and six hours after the initial assault. Dr Farrell was the Consultant Neuropathologist consulted by Professor John Harbison in 1985.

No copy of Dr Farrell’s 1985 report exists and no reference made to him in the Garda Investigation File

Flynn family evidence

“The lack of a detailed explanation by the Flynn family about what took place at Kilcoursey House on the night of 7th/8th July 1985 has added considerably to the speculation surrounding the death of Father Niall Molloy”
