Shatter says coldcase investigation is ongoing
The Minister for the Justice says he won’t commission an Independent Inquiry into the death Fr. Niall Molloy until the Garda coldcase Investigation is complete.
Independent Roscommon South Leitrim Deputy Denis Naughten says he has been speaking to Minister Shatter following a presentation last week where the family were calling for a Public Inquiry.
The Roscommon priest was found dead in the home of the Flynn’s at Kilcoursey House in Clara in County Offaly in 1985.
It’s alleged the Flynn’s owed him money and there was a widespread cover-up resulting in no conviction being made to date.
Deputy Naughten says the Minister is hoping to have a report from the Garda Commission on the 2010 coldcase investigation shortly and only then will he make any further decision.
